I saw this band open for Pentagram a couple of months back, they were really awesome and were pretty funny too. Serpent Throne hail from Philadelphia, PA and play instrumental Stoner Metal that emphasizes the bluesy nature of the genre while also bringing in some of that Sabbath influence that it's known for. This isn't like the countless boring Sleep clones that we see popping up every minute, Serpent Throne keeps it interesting. Here's an album that I've been enjoying for awhile now. Necrovation is a fairly new band that hails from Sweden, and boy do they love their Swedish Death Metal, hail to ABBA! Their sound is very reminiscent of Entombed and Dismember. They released their first full-length album "Breed Deadness Blood" last year, which I'll be sharing with you today. Bone Awl is a super lo-fi Black Metal act from California that emphasizes an early punk/crust sound with a raw and dark edge. There's no bullshit or silly theatrics involved. The group is very D.I.Y. oriented and self-releases their countless demos and EPs through their own label Klaxon Records. Fans of Ildjarn and Von should definitely check Bone Awl out, this is some pure and quality Black Metal.
